The first (and unfortunately only, as they've disbanded) project of Californian band Costco Boyfriend.
What is considered an ideal recording process when making an album?
Every artist has their own, and with that their own crazy anecdotes. The story of ours is no different--
Starting with the fairy tale, old as time itself, our little group started with the ever-powerful lusting affection to rebel against the norms of a pressuring society—a society that feeds off of alienating its own with falsified wealth manifested in million dollar homes and a handful of Mercedes Benz’ as well as taking to prescription medicine as a resort to one's own insecurities and lack of gratitude; I digress. The plan was simple. We were to enlist a movement of rebellious youth to play any music of their liking in a public setting. Like any good dream, it is only good in your head. Despite that flop, it did find itself in the recording of our first extended play record.
The recording process began in March of 2020. From there the finishing touches in songwriting and production were made. The recording lasted up until August. From there began the looming trouble of mixing and mastering this piece of music. It was not as much the problem of having to learn the rules of mixing and mastering, much more sleepless nights of caffeine and attention deficit medication, mixed with Del Taco at 4:00 am, in being able to clear the rungs of mixing and mastering. This proved to have quite some effect on member Monty Cime…
Regardless of the mistakes made, and prospects lost, we are happy to say we have at least made 23 minutes of music from it all. We hope you find some enjoyment in this babbling, remote, and contradictory piece we call, “The Costco Boyfriend EP”
With a name that sticks like flies to feces, Costco Boyfriend has been tearing up the local bedroom scene of southern Orange County. Analysts predict that by the end of 2021, Costco Boyfriend will be a worldwide household name.
